Woohoo, sweet galia melon, cold cucumber and fresh mint! What’s better then to combine all three on a hot summer’s day and twist them into a super refreshing drink!
This week, summer arrived big time here in the Netherlands with temperatures rising above 95°F it’s getting quite hot over here. Yeah, were not really used to this kind of heat :P. The government actually launched some kind of emergency plan due to extreme heat…I say, drink a melon-cucumber-mint smoothie and your good to go!…maybe I should go make them aware of this recipe right now. Sounds like a plan 😉
Galia melon always reminds me of those summer nights back home, when my mother used to wrap juicy slices of melon in slices of dried ham. Sitting in the garden with a cold beer, having dinner with the family, maybe light a little fire when the sun sets. I think we all got those great memories of ‘back then’ :). But that’s just one of the reasons why I l-o-v-e g Galia Melon..and cantaloupes too by the way.

Refreshing melon cucumber mint smoothie
- ½ pound (230gr) Galia Melon (or Cantaloupe)
- ¼ pound (115gr) Cucumber
- 15 fresh mint leaves
- 1 tbsp lime juice (lemon is also fine)
- Cut the melon and cucumber in chunks
- Add everything together into your blender
- Blend it long enough for the mint leaves to get chopped very fine.
Add a little bit of honey if you need more sweetness, but I'm guessing the galia melon has enough sweetness!
