This Finnish blueberry pie is a traditional recipe from Finland and is called ‘Mustikkapiirakka’. At firs it looks like if you’re never gonna pronounce that word, but give it a try and it’s easier then you think!
I like to know how certain food or recipes are originally called so here it is again for you to try: Mustikkapiirakka

I love your gorgeous pictures. So amazing to see generous amount of blueberries on the pie! If only blueberry is a bit cheaper in Australia I would’ve tried this recipe in a heartbeat. <3

Thanks so much Juventia! Too bad blueberries are so expensive over there, I must say i’d like them to be a little cheaper here as well ;)

Am not much of a baker, can you advise what caster sugar is? I am half FInnish and blueberries are just coming in season now so want to try this!

Caster sugar is super fine sugar. You can use baker’s sugar or just put regular white sugar in a food processor for a few seconds.

I made this for my son’s social studies class, as he was doing a project on Finland & wanted to take an authentic dessert from this country. I found your recipe & it turned out beautifully! It’s tasted just as wonderful as it looks in your pictures. Thanks for sharing! We will be making this again soon!

Just tried the recipe tonight. The cake came out a little moist in the middle. Is it suppose to be spongy?
