Today’s World Wide Wednesday recipe #2 comes from Myanmar! #worldwidewednesday
When we were traveling in Myanmar we often ended the day with this super-tasty-licous salad. On those summerdays with temperatures above 95°F (35°C), this avocado salad was the perfect refreshing little treat. Imagine a long day of walking through the temples of Bagan or riding our motorbike down in Southern Myanmar in the burning sun, this salad was our little comfort food to end a hot day. To give you an idea of the beauty of Myanmar check one of my pics below or go check Google Image Search here ;)
I often make this avocado salad as a side dish to go with all sorts of asian main dishes. It just works perfect. The taste, the freshness and the healthiness really made me love this super simple salad. As you might know I there are many ‘international’ recipes from all over the world on Have Another Bite and this one fits in just perfect, because you can combine it with plenty of recipes you find here.
Take a look at this Indian Rogan Josh with Lamb for example..
or, serve it together with this Beetroot Thoran from India
and let me remind you of this Caramalized Pork from Vietnam
These recipes above are all Asian recipes, but this avocado salad works fine on itself as well since it’s really nutritious. For me, it wouldn’t be enough since I’m quite a hungry fellow. But for anyone looking for a light and nutritious dish, i’d say it’s perfect! I even bet this avocado salad would be perfect as a side dish with pasta’s or sandwiches as well. I’ll have to go and try that soon! Since it is so simple and pure it’s really versatile, I’m sure you’ll find a great combination for yourself
Alright, I can keep talking about this salad all I want, but you should start prepping it now and try it for yourself! It’s ready in just 10 minutes and makes the perfect refreshing, healthy side salad on a warm summer evening! All you need is Avocados, Tomatoes, Onion, Peanuts, Peanut Oil and a few spices and your ready to go.
